The Latest Union Happenings

[07-2010] VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE! (There, did we say that enough?) The Hartford Advocate is taking nominations for their 2010 Grand Band Slam, and we're looking to get on the ballot for the fourth year running. Head over to the official site, and enter Slacker's Union for "Best Cover Band"...because we is!

[07-2010] A great evening on the patio at Vito's last week, and big thanks to Kyle, Ashley, and of course, the partons who made us feel so welcome and apprecaited. We'll be back very soon, scout's honor! And as for YOU, Torrington, after getting rave response from the guests, bar staff, and even the owner the last time we played, we're back again this Friday to try and drown out whatever's on stage at the Warner! (How many times can you really handle "Godspell" or "The Tribute to Kenny Rogers", anyway?) It's going to be a gorgeous summer night, come out and hoist a glass with [S*U], like your mama warned you not to!

[06-2010] Thanks to those who welcomed us to Humphrey's in Wethersfield this month, it was great to play a spot that opens out to a patio on warm nights like those. We'll see you back there soon. And hey, Torrington! Due to popular demand, we'll be back at the Cambridge House Brew Pub in early July, so rinse out your favorite beer stein, and we'll see what's on tap!

[06-2010] Rain and cold kept the acoustic show at Vito's from happening this month, but fret not -- we'll be back in early July to sling that six-string straight as an arrow towards the patio! (Wow, that was almost like poetic verse, right there!)

[06-2010] As Neil Peart once wrote, "No changes are permanent, but change is." You said it, sir. The whole [S*U] look is changing as we enter our fourth (!) year of rocking the greater Connecticut area, with an updated logo, website, contact details, and hell yeah: venues. (Bristol, Wethersfield, West Hartford, you all have it coming to you...don't say we didn't warn you!) Got some opinions on the new face of the Union? Throw some english at us over at Facebook, and say what needs to be said!

[05-2010] Big, big thanks to everyone over at the Cambridge House in Torrington for packing the place, making tons of noise, and taking as big a dent as possible out of the bar shelves. We had a great night trying out the place for the first time, and can't wait to come back!

[05-2010] A new take on the Slacker's Union line-up, as Keir and Mike will be making select appearances at patio venues like Vito's in Windsor. Got an idea for how we should be billing ourselves? "Pair of Slackers", or "Union Brethren"? Maybe something else? Head over to the Facebook page, and toss in your two cents!

[04-2010] While we hate it when party holidays fall in the middle of the week, that's not going to slow us down. Cinco de Mayo may be a Wednesday this year, but Cinco(+2) falls smack on a Friday -- and you can raise a few Coronas and tequila with the Union at the Old Well Tavern in Simsbury!

[04-2010] Happy Easter, everybody -- don't mistake the little chocolate eggs for the rabbit's little "yard presents". See you this Friday at the Dog, for our annual "Up The I.R.S." event!

[03-2010] Spring forward -- into new venues! We're extremely stoked to finally be showing up at the Cambridge House in Torrington in May, and will also be unveiling a few new slots as Spring continues to...uhh..."spring". (I had something catchier there, but lost it.) Oh well, rock on!

[01-2010] Happy New Year, everyone -- we're looking to make 2010 a huge one for the S*U clan, and try out some new venues and formats as the seasons revolve. Plans are in the works for unplugged sessions, private events, and of course, any and all opportunities to tear it up at your favorite watering holes around the Connecticut and Massachusetts areas.
