Know your Union representatives
Call them friends, call them family, call them a quartet of morons, or whatever you care to. (They're thick-skinned, they can take it.) But in the interest of getting more detail, here are your Union brethren:
Mike Oken (Guitar) lives in West Hartford, and after picking up a guitar at the age of 15, he hasn't put it down since. He attended the Hartford Conservatory of Music for record production. As a guitarist, his influences range from Van Halen to Guns'n'Roses. Mike absolutely loves being a weekend warrior, and being a cog in the Slacker's Union machine. Polk High Football Rules!
Ken Wolf (Drums) is originally from East Hartford and currently living in South Windsor with wife (Erin), baby boy (Daniel) and dog (Claude). Ken's been playing the drums since the the 4th grade, studying with local drummers Mike "Benny" Benevento and Rob "The Drummer" Gottfried. He hooked up with Slacker's Union guitarist Mike Oken back in 1989 and the two have been jamming in a variety in bands ever since. When not playing, he enjoys riding his motorcycle and watching TV with no less than a bunch of beers!
Phil Moriarty (Bass) is the newest addition to the Union roster, originally from Manchester and now lives in Burlington with his wife and two kids. He previous played with Mike and Ken for 10 years in the quintessential garage band, which will remain nameless (but you can probably guess). When not teaching or writing songs with his students, Phil is found jammin' on the guitar with his sons, loving the classics (Zep, Stones) and looking forward to getting back to bass slappin' and stage diving!
Keir Hansen (Vocals) has turned to the cover band circuit after years of original songwriting, both solo and with Connecticut bands such as Dragon Paw Jones. A fledgling guitarist in his own right, he prefers to play more acoustic material, and relies on his Union brethren for the harder material. With a sea of influences too wide to travel, suffice to say that Keir loves getting his hands on the range of covers that S*U carries in its arsenal, and is always hungry for new tunes. Don't let the lanky appearance fool you -- he'll take on anyone at a show in an "I Can't Believe You Drank That" competition if it means defending his honor. Tabasco, anyone?

A Brief History of [S*U]
Emerging from earlier projects like the Mike Philken Band, Yoda's Junk, Dragonpaw Jones and various independent work, [S*U] has been now playing shows around the greater Connecticut and Massachusetts areas for nearly four years. From bar gigs, to private bookings, to opening for signed acts, the Union has been able to enjoy the wide array of music (and music appreciators) that comes and goes over time.
Each member is a true rock fanatic, but influences and appreciation from other music genres has allowed them to mix up the typical "cover band fare", offering an evening of music that spans the radio dial, all with a very unique [S*U] flavor.
Four years down, many, many to go!
